What is Patent Gold Leaf?

Patent gold leaf, also called transfer leaf, is gold mounted to tissue paper via pressure process. Each leaf sits between protective rouged paper, allowing you to remove one leaf at a time without disturbing others. Unlike loose leaf, patent leaf requires no gilder's tip and stays adhered to tissue until pressed onto your prepared surface.

Best Uses

Ideal for outdoor applications and challenging conditions where loose leaf becomes unmanageable. Patent leaf works best on flat surfaces and is not suitable for water gilding techniques.

Storage Requirements

Patent leaf is temperature and humidity sensitive. Store in a damp environment at approximately 80% humidity, wrapped in plastic wrap, to maintain tissue moisture. If leaf loosens in dry conditions, remount by storing under pressure in a humid space. If leaf adheres too tightly after hot, humid storage, place in a cool, dry location or refrigerator to correct.
