What is Patent Leaf?

Patent (transfer) leaf is gold mounted on tissue paper, pre-assembled for easy handling. Remove one leaf at a time without a gilder's tip—the tissue backing stays attached until you press it onto your prepared surface. Ideal for outdoor work and flat surfaces where loose leaf would be impractical.

Best Practices

Store in 80% humidity, wrapped in plastic, to maintain tissue moisture. Avoid dry or very hot environments, which can loosen the leaf. If leaf becomes too loose, remount by storing under pressure in a humid space. If adhered too tightly, store in a cool, dry place or refrigerator to ease separation.

Not suitable for water gilding.
