What is Patent Gold Leaf?

Patent (transfer) gold leaf is pre-mounted on tissue paper, eliminating the need for a gilder's tip. Each leaf lifts cleanly from the book and stays on the tissue backing until pressed onto your prepared surface. Ideal for outdoor work and challenging conditions where loose leaf is impractical. Best suited for flat surfaces; not recommended for water gilding.

Storage & Care

Patent leaf is humidity-sensitive. Store in a sealed plastic wrap at approximately 80% humidity to maintain the tissue paper's moisture balance. In dry conditions, leaf may loosen—remount by storing under pressure in a humid environment. If stored in excessive heat and humidity, the leaf may adhere too tightly; remedy by refrigerating or storing in a cool, dry place.
